Greensprings School Students Sweep Conrad Challenge with 'Juiceitup' App, Garner $7.2M in Scholarships
The winning trio, Idara Attah, Imabong Apkan-Chinyere, and Mirabel Njoku, impressed the judges with their innovative app, which employs an AI algorithm to suggest personalized juice-making recipes from various fruits to aid in patients' recovery from illnesses.
"This achievement is a testament to their dedication and creativity," remarked the school in a statement. "Their outstanding project not only earned them scholarships valued at $894,000 but also a cash prize of N1.5 million."
In addition to Team Lavendaire's success, nine other teams from Greensprings School made it to the finals, collectively receiving $6.4 million in scholarships. The first runner-up team from the school also received a cash prize of N1 million.
Assistant Principal of Enhancement, Mr. Afolabi Amusan, expressed pride in the students' accomplishments, highlighting the hard work of both students and teachers. "We were determined to defend our title as national winners from 2023," he explained. "At the finals, we presented 10 teams comprising 35 students, all of whom had progressed from the initial stages of the competition."
Furthermore, Team Lavendaire will represent Nigeria at the 2024 Conrad World Summit in Houston, USA, in April. Other finalist teams, such as Team Mono, received a cash prize of N1 million, while each member of the nine finalist teams was awarded scholarships totaling $6.4 million.
Executive Director Mrs. Lai Koiki commended the students and their mentors for their outstanding achievements, while Deputy Director of Education Mrs. Feyisara Ojugo expressed the school's immense pride and gratitude for the dedication shown by the students and their support team.
